Who is Altair?

In addition, Altair’s tools are used for design projects awarded to Altair's product development division, Altair ProductDesign. Who We Hire

Altair is looking for engineering students completing their sophomore year with concentrations in mechanical, civil and aerospace engineering who are motivated to learn and gain professional experience through the program.

How the Program Works

Step 1: Two students will be chosen to complete a paid summer internship within the HyperWorks Support Organization. Here you will learn the foundation of the computer aided engineering (CAE) industry by working with customers in various industries, project management teams, the HyperWorks sales force, as well as many other organizational functions within the company. www.altairhyperworks.com

Step 2: The following summer after you have completed your junior year, you will return to Altair for another summer internship but this time within the ProductDesign organization. During this time you will discover how the design process takes place within an engineering project with the help of CAE software. www.altairpd.com

Step 3: Candidates who complete the program will be reviewed to potentially receive fulltime employment either at Altair or placed on-site with an industry leading company through our internal recruiting team.

Where You’ll Work

The internship position will be held in Troy Michigan at the Altair World headquarters located at 1820 E. Big Beaver Rd. Troy MI 48083

Thoughts on Interning at Altair:
Interning with the Product Design group was a welcomed barrage of new and different challenges.
An Internship's Impact on Education:
Being an intern helped with school by giving me focus and motivation to work through my academic challenges. I found myself working through a difficult subject because I truly wanted to understand it so that someday I could apply my knowledge if I ever needed to.
The Transition to Fulltime Employment:
Any internship will add career experience, which is a huge advantage over other graduates with academic experience only. By the end of my internship, my responsibilities had grown to that of a new graduate hire, so once I was hired the transition was pretty seamless.
Ben's Career Today:
I enjoy working for an engineering consultant. The broad project task really forces me to draw on all my knowledge from school and experiences from my internship.

Thoughts on Interning at Altair:
Interning at Altair provided a unique blend of experience where I was exposed to several different business units within the company (software and consulting groups); as well as being able to work with a diverse and talented workforce. The innovation-driven culture at Altair also gave me a lot of freedom to think outside the box and cultivated great work ethics early in my schooling years at Kettering University.
An Internship's Impact on Education:
Being an intern provided an accurate sneak-peak of the real-world working environment. It also helped set realistic expectations and what needs to be accomplished in school in order to be successful in the real world after graduation.
The Transition to Fulltime Employment:
The internship program provided a seamless transition into the full-time employment with Altair since I was already doing the job as an intern. It also helped me learn about business aspects of Altair's operation early in my schooling years; which led to the transition into my current sales and account management role at Altair.
Zul's Career Today:
My current job combines my education, working experience and what I enjoy most: people interaction. It is very rewarding and fulfilling to help my clients and their companies solve problems and achieve their goals.

Thoughts on Interning at Altair:
Interning at Altair was a great experience; it gave me real world experience from my freshman year on. By the time I graduated I was more than prepared to take on my future career.
An Internship's Impact on Education:
Having real world experience helped immensely in my higher level engineering classes. It gave me the knowledge and background not only to understand difficult concepts but also to help lead the classroom discussions.
The Transition to Fulltime Employment:
By the time I graduated there was virtually no transition to a fulltime position. I had been given the responsibility of a full time employee as a student due the experience I gained over the time of my internship.
Nick's Career Today:
My job at Altair gives me diversity in experience that would be very hard to find elsewhere. I'm in a position where I can constantly learn and grow as an engineer. The work always changes and I'm never allowed to get bored. That combined with a stress free work environment and company culture makes working here fun.
