Altair's 2022.2 Simulation Software Release is Here
This update focuses on cloud elasticity and scalability, electrification, and product development decision-making. The latest release includes new features and capabilities that broaden, strengthen, and specialize Altair’s comprehensive simulation toolkit.
The recent Altair One™ release enhances the platform’s breadth and reliability so users have a complete overview of all features, including data management, high-performance computing (HPC), and the customer portal. Interactive applications like Altair® HyperMesh®, Altair® HyperView®, Altair® SimLab®, and Altair® Inspire™ can be launched in a browser. Solver jobs covering structural, thermal, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and high and low frequency electromagnetics disciplines can be submitted in the scalable and elastic cloud infrastructure, making it easier for organizations with limited IT and HPC resources to meet budgets and demand.
Altair One cloud experience is currently only available in North America.
Altair One offers an open, flexible, and cohesive user experience for engineers, designers, and scientists to collaborate and innovate from anywhere. Always-on computing resources let users access software, data files, scalable HPC, simulation results, and community support and training from a single, easy-to-use platform.
Self-service access lets users create dedicated, ready-to-use HPC appliances – with accessibility to all required simulation software with a simple button click. Users can create private appliances on their cloud provider of choice, utilizing the best compute hardware to run simulation solvers and applications that can be run on GPU nodes for visualizing fluid dynamics or bulk and granular material simulations (Altair® EDEM™). All the HPC appliances in Altair One come with industry-proven workload schedulers so users can maximize compute resources and slash turnaround times.
Access computing and interactive solutions with the unparalleled flexibility of Altair’s unit-based licensing. With full and instant access to all simulation solutions, companies can leverage Altair Units to maximize the power of existing investments in in-house, cloud, on-demand, and hybrid HPC approaches.
“Altair solutions help us manage our EDA tool resources efficiently and improve time to market. With such a smart mechanism for job preemption, the number of licenses seems to be unlimited.”

Simulation 2022.2 enables product teams to collaborate on all aspects of electronic system, PCB, firmware, and 5G connectivity development in a connected, end-to-end electronic system design environment. Tighter integration between electromagnetic analysis (Altair® Flux®) and E-motor design (Altair® FluxMotor®) with SimLab and Altair® Material Data Center™ helps streamline workflows and provide advanced modeling capabilities, electrical system design exploration and optimization, and faster acoustic and thermal flow analysis.
Multiphysics design capabilities with SimLab integration provide fast solutions for E-mobility applications that balance cost, size, and performance. Simulation 2022.2’s E-motor acoustic and CFD solutions complement the existing magnetic transient 2D solution and provide a complete workflow from concept definition to detailed electro-magnetic, vibro-acoustic, and thermal simulation for measuring and optimizing performance.
Reduce development costs and accelerate time-to-market for power electronics in power supplies, motor drives, control systems, and microgrids with Altair® PSIM™ integration and Flux, FluxMotor, and Altair Activate® for a fast, seamless workflow.
Electronic system design, debugging, and post-production servicing is simplified and accelerated with Altair® EEvision™ to visualize schematics for circuits, wire harnesses, and components. Users can dynamically search digital twin models generated from ECAD data or other sources to automatically render scenario-specific schematics, and guided diagnostics reduce product service times and costs.
“Thanks to Flux simulations, we lowered the number of prototypes. Without Altair solutions, we would not have been able to develop our new E-motor in such a short time.”

Altair’s integrated software solutions help users make confident product development decisions. Machine learning (ML)- and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered simulation enables designers and manufacturers alike to take advantage of ML-guided insights to better inform design decisions at any stage of the workflow. Simulation 2022.2 brings continued integration between Altair simulation products for streamlined project management and lead time reduction.
Altair® Pulse™ is a low-code environment for constructing and orchestrating engineering workflows involving many software tools like Altair® HyperWorks®, Inspire, and SimLab. By leveraging automation, it makes engineering and design processes more efficient. From simple workflows to complex ones, Pulse enables fast, reliable, and repeatable modeling and analysis. With its new no-code user input UI and multiple programing languages API, constructing powerful modules that leverage the best capabilities of each tool is easier than ever.
Reduce lead time for pre- and post-processing by leveraging automated multiphysics simulation. HyperMesh makes it easier to manage project designs by allowing users to create scenarios defined by solver profiles and rule sets corresponding to different controls for automated control application and validation. Combined with the enhanced ability to load client-specific plugin features accessible to all clients and profiles, improved surface modeling, hex mesh, and tetra-mesh modeling, HyperMesh continues to drive cloud enablement, automation, and productivity within a solver-independent design and development environment.
Simulation 2022.2 also brings enhancements to Altair’s trusted solvers and intuitive workflows. Altair CFD™ includes multiple new updates, including an improved workflow with a single-window environment between SimLab and nanoFluidX. This is the first all-in-one workflow introduced to nanoFluidX that covers solver runs as well as pre- and post-processing. Altair AcuSolve™ continues to build upon its strength with stronger EDEM integration and improvements to its fluid topology optimization capabilities.
“Thanks to Altair’s expertise and services, we could not only democratize the creation of hexa-mesh and model setup for wheel assembly – ensuring adherence to our high-quality standards – but we also achieved a lead time reduction of up to 97% compared to the manual process, thereby leading to time savings of 800 hours per year.”
