American Magic
As the official computational science and artificial intelligence (AI) partner for the New York Yacht Club American Magic, we delivered technology and consulting services to assist the team in the 37th America’s Cup competition. With NYYC American Magic, we provided “work streams” that encapsulate predictive analytics, AI, and machine learning capabilities that improve boat performance. In addition, our technology gives the team the ability to analyze past races, predict and simulate boat performance, and conduct test runs all within a single technology platform.
Additionally, we have:
- Provided the team with custom-built “work streams” that allow the team to run advanced simulations testing boat design and performance
- Allowed the team to analyze optimal race segments performance through “AI bot” test runs, and use that data to inform physical sailor performance and strategy
SAE International
In conjunction with SAE International, we’re proud to sponsor its university programs that provide un-paralleled pre-professional education to college age students across the world. We’ve sponsored multiple events – including SAE Baja, Formula SAE, Formula SAE Electric, Aero Connect, Clean Snowmobile, and more.
With SAE International, we have:
- Provided student teams with free access to Altair technology and training, access to Altair experts and booths, and giveaways
- Assisted teams with electrification, analysis, data analytics, sensor calibration, and lightweighting initiatives
- Had experts serve as volunteers, judges, and other support staff to assist event organizers

- Conducted joint marketing efforts throughout multiple channels, including videos, feature articles, and keynote presentations
Shell
As part of the Shell Eco-marathon competition, we’ve offered student teams from around the world access to our simulation tools for lightweight design, optimization, aerodynamics, electric drive systems, and more. We’ve also sponsored lightweighting awards in the past and have sent Altair experts to participate in Shell Eco-marathon, one of the biggest competitions for STEM students around the world.
Additionally, we have:
- Had ambassadors work as design judges and technical inspection staff
- Sponsored a “best use of simulation” award
- Worked with Shell to provide teams with webinars and training that bolsters their performance
