Push the limits of DEM  – Practical applications with scientific background

This presentation showcases DEM applications with non-standard implementations, which are pushing the limits of DEM to show what is possible.

The talk consists of three parts.
• particles as geometry . Covering an example for a trough conveyer.
• complex user defined models. Covering the simulation of suspensions with Bingham character and simulating liquid transfer in mixing processes.
• coupling DEM and CFD in a large scale complex application. Covering an example for scour protection

Presented as part of the virtual ATCx DEM in November 2022.
Speaker: Knut Krenzer, Dr.-Ing. , Head of Simulation, IAB Weimar
Duration: 25 minutes
